Ms Roxana Popescu serves as Head of the Legal Department of the Romanian Tennis Federation, where she oversees all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters relating to the Federation’s national and international activities. With a strong background in sports law, governance, and institutional compliance, she provides strategic legal advice on contractual, disciplinary, and administrative matters, ensuring that the Federation operates in accordance with national legislation and the regulatory frameworks of international sporting bodies.

In her capacity as Head of Legal, Ms Popescu plays a pivotal role in the drafting and implementation of internal legal policies, governance procedures, and disciplinary regulations. Her work underpins the Federation’s strategic objectives while reinforcing transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity within Romanian tennis.

Concurrently, Ms Popescu serves as Sports Legal Adviser to the Bucharest Municipal Football Association (AMFB), where she provides legal and regulatory guidance on governance, disciplinary proceedings, and the conduct of official football competitions at the municipal level. Her contribution ensures the sound legal functioning of one of Romania’s largest sporting associations, which coordinates hundreds of affiliated clubs and competitions, including youth and junior leagues.

Key Achievements in 2025:
In 2025, Ms Popescu was appointed a member of the working group convened by the Committee for Youth and Sport of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, tasked with drafting and negotiating amendments to the national Sports Law. Her active participation in this initiative reflects her recognised expertise in sports law and her commitment to strengthening the legislative and institutional foundations of Romanian sport.

Furthermore, Ms Popescu was part of the legal team that successfully secured the admission of a revision against a final judgment ordering the dissolution of the Bucharest Municipal Football Association. Following this outcome, the courts definitively rejected all subsequent dissolution applications, thereby preserving the Association’s existence, its right to organise football competitions throughout Bucharest – including youth and junior categories—and its entire patrimony. This decision represents a significant milestone in safeguarding institutional stability and continuity within the Romanian sporting system.
