Career Biography

Yadira Rivera-Cintrón is vice president and managing attorney of International Business Legal at Assurant, where she also serves as assistant corporate secretary of certain affiliates. In her VP role, Mrs. Rivera-Cintrón leads Assurant’s international legal department where she closely collaborates with the enterprise to develop the group’s legal function across different geographic regions. Prior to her current roles, she held various leadership positions in the organization including head of legal for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, and vice president of the legal department for Latin America. Mrs. Rivera-Cintrón has 27 years of experience in the legal profession, particularly in the fields of insurance, banking, government affairs, and commercial transactions.

She joined Assurant in 2011, coming from McConnell Valdés where she served as legal counsel with a focus on banking, insurance, and government affairs. Prior to that, she held senior positions at both the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico and the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions of Puerto Rico, after spending 4 years working as an Assistant District Attorney in the White-Collar Crimes Division of the Puerto Rico Department
of Justice. She began her career as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico serving under the late Justice Baltasar Corrada del Río. Mrs. Rivera-Cintrón received her bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico and her Juris Doctor from the School of Law of the University of Puerto Rico. She is an admitted member of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and is qualified in the District of Columbia. She also holds a certification as an Associate in Reinsurance from the Insurance Institute of America (IIA).
