Career Biography

Samuel Vaisman is a seasoned Peruvian legal executive with over 20 years of experience in Corporate and Financial Law, Mining, Construction, Labour Law, and Corporate Compliance. He currently serves as General Counsel and Head of Corporate Affairs at San Martín Contratistas Generales S.A., one of the country’s leading mining services companies, a role he has held since 2017.

He is also deeply committed to legal education. Since 2020, he has been a professor of Corporate Law and Mining and Energy Law at Universidad Científica del Sur, contributing to the development of future legal professionals in Peru. In addition, he has been a guest speaker at various academic events on Corporate Compliance, sharing insights on regulatory challenges and best practices in compliance management.

Samuel holds an LL.M. in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University School of Law. His academic credentials are complemented by certifications from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UC Berkeley School of Law, and the International Law Institute (ILI) in Washington D.C., further strengthening his expertise in international business law, financial law, and corporate governance.

Prior to joining San Martín, Samuel held senior legal positions in both private and public institutions. He served as General Counsel and Corporate Compliance Officer at HV Contratistas S.A. (SalfaCorp), was a Senior Associate at García Sayán Abogados, and held in-house counsel roles at Minera Ares (Hochschild Mining), Cementos Pacasmayo S.A.A. and the Central Reserve Bank of Peru.

Samuel is widely recognised for his leadership and strategic insight into legal management. He has been featured in the Legal 500 GC Powerlist Peru in both 2022 and 2024, which highlights the most influential in-house lawyers across the country.

He is known for combining robust legal knowledge with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach. His diverse sectoral experience enables him to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and deliver legal strategies that align with operational and corporate goals.
