Career Biography:

I currently serve as Executive Vice President of the Legal & Corporate Affairs Division at RIMAC Seguros y Reaseguros, a position I have held since October 2010. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to lead the company’s legal strategy, regulatory risk management, and market conduct efforts, while also being responsible for designing and implementing our compliance and sustainability strategies.

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is having led the development of RIMAC’s sustainability strategy, aligning it with our broader business objectives. We launched Peru’s first child-focused prevention program, “Yo me cuido,” endorsed by the Ministry of Education, and implemented a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan in collaboration with the Municipality of San Isidro and the Embassy of the Netherlands.

I also led the creation and implementation of a robust reputational risk management strategy across RIMAC and its subsidiaries. We developed specialised committees to map and continuously monitor risks, which has helped us significantly mitigate potential threats and improve overall risk governance.

RIMAC was the first insurance company in Peru to implement ISO 37001, the Anti-Bribery Management System. Under my leadership, the Compliance Office was strengthened through the incorporation of “Know Your Client” (KYC) controls and the use of automated alert systems covering international and domestic watchlists, NGOs, trusts, and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).

We also created a specialised Legal Advisory and Contracts Department, which played a key role in corporate governance. Thanks to this initiative, we entered the Top 10 in the Corporate Governance Index of the Lima Stock Exchange.

Another major milestone was the reorganisation of our Litigation Department. By forming a team specialised in procedural and arbitration law, we developed defense strategies that helped us reverse most adverse rulings in both judicial and arbitral proceedings.

To ensure regulatory compliance and readiness, I led the establishment of the Regulatory Compliance Office. We implemented a directive management system to respond efficiently to government requirements and action plans, and to submit timely reports to supervisory entities.

Finally, we created the Market Conduct Office and executed a company-wide action plan that significantly reduced service-related complaints and dissatisfaction. We also coordinated with relevant departments to adopt and implement corrective actions that resolved underlying service issues in a permanent and effective way.

These initiatives have allowed me to contribute to the integrity, transparency, and long-term resilience of the company. I believe that legal strategy, when aligned with corporate values and public responsibility, becomes a fundamental pillar for sustainable business success.
