Career Biography
I have held the position of General Counsel for 6 years now. Over this period of time there have been several changes that affected the way the Bank makes business and the way we work as a legal team.
One of the first changes was the impulse of digitalisation on all processes. That meant not only that we had to offer new type of products but, as lawyers, we had to create a legal structure that would ensure a good and safe experience to our client as well as to comply with the ever-changing regulations. A clear example is that the COVID pandemic accelerated e-commerce, the use of digital solutions to transfer funds. We had to put all hands on deck to deliver.
Right now, AI is the new challenge. As a legal department, there are several processes that would benefit from gen AI. It is important that all the team will be trained to use these tools to improve their day-to-day work and focus on what brings more success to the team. As they say, you don’t have to work harder, you must work better.
Nevertheless, the main challenge is always to have a team that is motivated and on top of things. The human factor is the most important of all, and no matter how many books you read, how many seminars you attend, no formula is perfect. My conclusion is that communication is key. To be present and to listen.
