Career Biography

Alfonso Rebaza Gonzalez graduated from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú as a lawyer, and has worked for more than 20 years in different fields of the private sector. Currently, his practice is developed as General Counsel in COSCO SHIPPING Ports Chancay Perú (Port of Chancay). Prior to that, he was General Counsel in Volcan Compañía Minera for 13 years, and partner of Osterling Law firm for 2 years. He also has academic experience as university professor. He holds experience in different fields of law, such as mining, corporate, contracts and arbitration.

He has been involved with the Chancay Port Project since its early beginning in 2011. During that time he was General Counsel of Volcan Mining Company, one of the shareholders and sponsor of the project. From this role he supervised and assisted all the legal aspects of the development of the Chancay Project in Peru, such as permitting, land acquisition, relationship with authorities, shareholders agreements, contractual aspects, etc.

In 2023, he assumed the full-time role as a GC of Cosco Shipping Ports Chancay. It is a project that has accomplished the construction phase and has now entered into its commissioning phase. The legal function has direct relation with all the areas of the company, including the CEO, the shareholders and the Board of Directors. The legal function also coordinates its day to day with local communities in Chancay and relevant authorities for permitting in Chancay and in Lima.

Operations are now focused on completing the commissioning and starting commercial operation in May 2025. The next step is the commercial consolidation of the Chancay Port in the Pacific Coast.

Since Alfonso early involvement, the Chancay Port project is part of his expertise and personal development. As a lawyer, he along with the team have faced very interesting legal challenges to achieve the objectives of the Company.
