Antonious Porch
General Counsel | Condé Nast
What are the projects that you are most proud of working on over the past 12 months?
Two months into my new role as general counsel, I remain excited about joining Condé as we continue to grow and evolve the world’s most iconic brands, creating new opportunities to entertain, inspire, and empower audiences globally. AI is an incredibly important area of promise for our business and industry, with authenticity more important than ever for consumers. I am proud that Condé was announced in February 2025 as part of Amazon’s new Alexa AI assistant technology. The partnership with Amazon builds on Condé Nast’s AI licensing strategy. The new technology has the capability of summarizing Condé Nast’s content for consumers while also linking back to its original source.
Based on your experiences in the past year, are there any trends in the legal or business world that you are keeping an eye on that you think other in-house lawyers should be mindful of?
The development of AI must be done responsibly. In particular, the use of publisher content, music, and other IP for both Gen AI training and output must be licensed and compensated. Further, Gen AI cannot replace journalism. It takes reporters with grit, integrity, ambition, and human creativity to develop the stories that allow free markets, free speech, and freedom itself to thrive. With that in mind, we must ensure that Gen AI and output does not violate copyright law or threaten the continued production of high-quality media content.
What are the key things you prioritise to get the most out of your team?
I prioritise a shared vision for how my team can reflect values of integrity, service, excellence and teamwork each day to support Condé Nast’s editorial and business teams, as we manage risk, grow revenues, protect IP and enhance the global stature of our amazing brands including Vogue, GQ, Pitchfork, The New Yorker and Architectural Digest.
