The Middle East legal team of the multinational conglomerate Honeywell is formed of three experienced lawyers led by the regional general counsel Dalia Al Sayeh. The legal team has partnered with the local business team to provide insight into the unique legal and commercial landscape of the Middle East passing on advice and knowledge to Honeywell globally. The combined efforts and detailed guidance of the local team allowed the global division to form a more localised approach in bidding for a large opportunity in the region, subsequently giving the business a competitive edge. Al Sayeh describes the Middle East legal function saying, ‘We are a lean team covering a large and complex territory in a dynamic region. This requires an extremely efficient use of time and allocation of resources in order to fulfil our roles effectively as legal advisors, compliance watchdogs and meaningful business partners’. Though lean, the team has displayed commendable adaptability through the smooth integration of new jurisdictions with sizeable markets to their workload, while overcoming initial complexities that arise in such developments.
