What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently? (Please make sure to mark clearly any information that is confidential and no to be published)
I have been involved in several major infrastructure, water and construction projects valued above USD 100 million, some completed and others ongoing. I would love to share more details, but I am limited in the information I can share publicly.
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
I apply proactive and agile strategies in my day-to- day role, so when instability or crises hit, I already have a framework in place to manage challenges affecting legal operations. Flexibility and adaptability have been key drivers in setting the pace of aligning legal operations with broader business goals.
My approach serves as both a springboard and a protective shield that enables business. In essence, I do not only identify risks, but I also offer solutions to the business. My framework includes building strong relationships with key decision makers, staying educated and abreast on macro factors which could potentially affect the business and having to arm several standard contract templates relevant to the business operations which can be adapted to suit changing circumstances based on the need of the business.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
Without a doubt, artificial intelligence, automation, and information security. Technology in general is fast paced and has changed the way we work or interact with each other. I educate myself by keeping up to date, but I must say, technology moves so quickly that it is quite a challenge to keep up. Even though it is difficult to stay on top of everything, I have found that the quickest way to learn is by involving myself in related projects. Where a new technology solution is being explored, I make sure that I am involved with the process. By the time you hang around the technology team long enough, you get to understand things better and can provide valuable legal advice in those emerging areas.
