Senior legal counsel | Aukera Italy
Chiara Porcu
Senior legal counsel | Aukera Italy
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
In complex and crisis situations, my approach is first and foremost to correctly and comprehensively frame the legal issue. It is then very important to communicate clearly, and without yielding to business pressures, the possible scenarios and implications to management, so that they can make the most appropriate decisions.
What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?
Project finance for a pipeline of several wind farms, the acquisition of some BESS and PV projects, and the insolvency of a material counterparty and its impact on Aukera’s business.
What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?
Aukera is in the process of building its ESG processes and internal practices. As head of the legal function in Italy I am contributing to the development of such processes and practices.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
AI, of course, is expected to have the most significant impact and I believe that within smaller legal functions, such as Aukera’s, AI can be more easily integrated. We are also implementing an AI system within the legal department to simplify time-consuming and low-level legal activities.
