Career Biography

John Ryan is Head of Product, for the EU Funds Legal Group, at Franklin Templeton. His team oversees the provision of legal services to Franklin Templeton’s Irish and Luxembourg mutual funds, ETFs, and private asset funds businesses. Ryan is also Deputy Head of the EU Funds Legal Group, whose members are located in Ireland, Luxembourg, Germany and Poland. He sits on the Executive Committee of Franklin Templeton’s Luxembourg domiciled management company, Franklin Templeton International Services S.à.r.l., which has branches in ten European jurisdictions. Ryan also sits on various global and European committees within Franklin Templeton.

Ryan has sat on several industry bodies, including Irish Funds working groups, and he also is a representative of the Irish Association of Investment Managers on the Central Bank’s Financial Industry Forum’s Innovation subgroup.

Ryan joined Franklin Templeton in 2020 and previously served as Head of Legal, Ireland, with responsibility for legal, regulatory, and commercial matters for the Irish branch of Franklin Templeton International Services S.à r.l. John holds a degree from University College Dublin in Business and Law and is admitted as a solicitor in Ireland, England, and Wales.
