About

Rembert commenced his legal career with leading law firms in New Zealand and Australia, before arriving in Hong Kong in 1997 and working as a solicitor with Hong Kong law firm Deacons. He initially specialized in Intellectual Property, before widening his practice towards the area of Technology Law generally.

In 2000, he moved in-house with Intel Corporation in Hong Kong, covering the APAC region, then joining software company Autodesk in 2012 before joining Lenovo in 2020. Rembert has published and has been cited extensively in numerous leading academic journals, particularly in the areas of intellectual property and contract law. More recently, Rembert has also extended his area of interest and influence into the area of FinTech, with a particular interest in the benefits that blockchain technology offers humanity in terms of human rights and freedoms – particularly the ability for individuals to self-custody “economic energy”.

“When I joined Intel in 2000, Lenovo was a relatively small customer of Intel. I never imagined at that time, that 20 years later, I would be working with that same customer as General Counsel, although even at that time I sensed that Lenovo had the traits and culture that it would help it become the globally successful company it is today”, said Mr Meyer-Rochow.

Rembert has many proud moments in his career, stating: “It always gives me satisfaction when I see my academic work considered and cited by others, and in particular when my work is referred to and forms the basis for judicial decisions. But when I reflect back on my career so far, one area which brings me the most pride and happiness is to see the growth and succes of the younger lawyers in the various legal teams I have led, many of whom I have remained in close contact with despite many years having passed since we worked together.”
