What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, alongside daily legal responsibilities, I have been involved in various key projects. We implemented an AI-based contract repository to centralise and organise all legacy agreements. The tool filters clauses and provides better visibility, tracking, and analytics.

We continue with contracts management automation, upgrading our Salesforce platform with selected add-ons to streamline the process and improve efficiency, while ensuring compliance and risk mitigation. As part of this initiative, we organised training sessions for smooth adoption.

Marketing events have been a key focus. I set up the legal framework for customer events supported by vendor sponsorships. This included drafting sponsorship agreements, ensuring GDPR compliance, defining the use of logos and promotional materials, and setting clear rules for lead sharing and post-event communication.

The Group has also undergone expansion. I supported the incorporation of three new entities (two in Europe and one in Asia) as part of our international expansion, overseeing legal setup, governance, and local compliance.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?

A modern in-house counsel needs to be more than just a legal expert. From my perspective, being an effective in-house counsel today means wearing a few different hats. Of course, you need a solid legal foundation, but that’s just the starting point. What really makes the difference is understanding the business and being able to translate legal risks into practical solutions that actually help the company move forward. I’ve found that clear communication is everything, not everyone speaks “legal,” so being able to break things down simply is a huge asset. You also must stay flexible and open-minded, because the challenges are always evolving.

It’s like being the quiet hero behind the scenes: solving problems, preventing fires, and occasionally reminding people that “legal can’t make the risk disappear… but we can make sure you see it coming”.

What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

One cause I’m really passionate about is making contracts simpler and easier to understand, especially in commercial transactions. Too often contracts are filled with legal jargon that only lawyers can make sense of, but most of the terms are actually commercial, not legal.

To me, a contract should be a helpful tool that clearly sets out expectations, risks, and responsibilities, not just a formality. It should be something the sales, procurement, or engineering teams can confidently review, question, and even negotiate terms without waiting on legal to decode every time.

Simplifying this language empowers teams to move faster, ask the right questions, and take more ownership. It also helps legal focus on the real risks, not spending time translating clauses that don’t need to be complicated in the first place.

Clear contracts make better business, for everyone involved. My slogan “Make Contracts Make Sense”.
