What are the most significant cases, projects and/or transactions that you and/or your legal team have recently been involved in?
Over the past year, our legal team has led strategic initiatives at Expleo that combine transformation, innovation, and business impact.
A major achievement was the launch of an AI roadmap for lawyers, introducing legal tech tools for contract lifecycle management, regulatory monitoring, and legal research. These solutions have improved efficiency, enhanced data quality, and ensured compliance with evolving standards. We also implemented the 2025 Legal Operations Roadmap, embedding automation, cross-functional collaboration, and streamlined processes into daily operations to align legal priorities with Expleo’s transformation goals.
On the strategic front, we supported group-level simplification and restructuring, including mergers, divestitures, and entity closures across multiple jurisdictions. We also played a key role in complex business transactions, ensuring legal continuity, mitigating risks, and maintaining stakeholder alignment throughout negotiations and execution.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to being a proactive strategic partner, driving resilience, innovation, and measurable business value across the organisation.
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
In times of instability, our approach is founded on agility, clarity, and robust governance. We activate crisis protocols that include rapid legal risk assessments, strengthened internal controls, and streamlined decision-making processes to ensure responsiveness without compromising compliance.
We continuously review and adapt our frameworks, simplifying workflows and prioritising critical actions to maintain operational continuity. Equally important is our focus on team resilience: clear communication, cross-functional alignment, and targeted training ensure that the legal function remains a stabilising force. Whether facing regulatory changes, contractual disputes, or client escalations, our aim is to enable the organisation to adapt swiftly while safeguarding compliance, reputation, and stakeholder trust.
What strategies do you employ to ensure the successful digital transformation of a legal department while maintaining compliance with your country’s data protection laws?
At Expleo, digital transformation within the legal department is driven by a dual focus on operational efficiency and regulatory integrity. We have adopted a structured roadmap that integrates legal tech tools – such as contract lifecycle management platforms, escalation automation, and AI-powered contract review pilots – underpinned by a strong governance framework.
To ensure compliance with data protection laws, including GDPR and its global equivalents, we have implemented a group-wide Personal Data Protection policy, supported by onboarding modules, intranet resources, and targeted training campaigns. As of 2025, over 91% of employees have completed data protection training, and we continue to expand certification coverage across ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, and NIST standards. Privacy-by-design principles are embedded in every digital initiative. For instance, our internal legal tools and document repositories are configured to restrict access based on role and geography, ensuring data minimisation and traceability. The migration to platforms such as SharePoint is carefully managed to preserve confidentiality and auditability.
Beyond compliance, we prioritise legal accessibility. Through legal design and UX principles, we have reshaped key documents to be clearer and more user-friendly, improving engagement and reducing risk. Our General Secretariat Academy supports this with self-service training and simplified resources. Ultimately, digital transformation is not just about tools – it is about culture. By aligning legal innovation with data ethics and regulatory foresight, we ensure that our legal function remains both agile and accountable.
AI has been taken seriously as a potentially revolutionary technological change in the legal world for a number of years now. Has it had a meaningful impact in how your legal team works in this time?
Yes, AI is now embedded in our legal operations. We’ve launched an AI roadmap focused on contract review, regulatory tracking, and legal research. Tools help automate routine tasks, freeing up time for strategic work. We’ve also implemented an AI governance framework withing the organization to ensure responsible use, aligned with Expleo’s ethics and compliance standards. AI supports—not replaces—our legal judgment, and we’re investing in upskilling to ensure our team remains tech-fluent and future-ready.
