Looking forward, what trends do you foresee in the legal landscape over the next 5–10 years that companies should prepare for?

Companies need to prepare for digital revolution where product development and delivery is focused on digital platforms.

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

Yes, I have had several interesting and unique ones but the most interesting is one where I supported our ICT team develop an all-encompassing business processes management system wherein the business units and branches are able to log issues and track responses to improve efficiencies and service delivery.

How does your team contribute to the overall business strategy of the company?

Through sound legal advice, perfection of securities in order to grow the asset book, litigation management that avert legal risks and contract negotiations that manages contract risk. Further we support the Board of directors with legal advice on the various issues that they may have.

How are you bringing the legal department closer to your business colleagues?

Through constant engagements via way of sandboxes (workshops and working face to face meetings), where they sit together and develop solutions and workarounds to various challenges facing them. This ensures that my team fully understands business needs and uses the legal framework to support the identified needs.
