What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

It has been politically decided that from 2027, DSB will assume sector responsibility for the S-train, encompassing both train operations and infrastructure in the future. This transition necessitates several significant changes, including amendments to existing legislation, the transfer of assets and activities from Banedanmark, and the finalisation of a comprehensive delivery agreement.

Another developing area, which we have spent time and effort on, is in the realm of international passenger transport by train across national borders. DSB is actively engaged in dialogues with various parties to offer new routes and we are currently preparing the necessary legal framework around this joint operation.

Finally, the EU has adopted extensive new regulations regarding, among other things, NIS2, CER, and AI. We have spent considerable efforts on uncovering the scope of application for DSB and determining which initiatives need to be launched to ensure compliance.

What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?

DSB is committed to sustainability and has a comprehensive agenda dedicated to this area. Our work in this domain is carried out in close collaboration across different business areas, including legal, finance and accounting, procurement, and the environmental department. By working together, we aim to embed sustainable practices deeply within the core operations of DSB. The legal function plays a pivotal role in uncovering the requirements of the legislation and contributing to the appropriate level of implementation. To support DSB on the journey, we have adjusted our contract templates and ethical guidelines, ensuring that we set relevant and balanced sustainability goals in our supplier contracts. This enables us to effectively follow up on these goals for our CSRD reporting.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession soon, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

I believe that AI will play a vital role in solving legal tasks in the future. It will likely become a competitive parameter, both in terms of attracting new talent and increasing efficiency. By utilising AI, we can optimise our resources on what creates the most value, namely enhancing our output and solutions for the benefit of the business.
