Career Biography

Benim Saric is Head of Legal & Regulatory Compliance and Data Protection Officer at bank99 AG. In addition to his role at bank99 AG, he lectures in civil, corporate, and data protection law at the Technical University of Vienna.

Benim is a certified Data Protection and Compliance Officer. He holds a law degree (Mag. iur.) from the University of Vienna, a master’s degree in law (LL.M.) from the same university, and a master’s degree in business law (MBL) from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

With over ten years of experience in banking, corporate, and capital markets law on both national and international levels, Benim has developed a strong reputation for his expertise and strategic thinking. He is a frequent speaker at conferences on banking law and a contributor to leading academic journals such as BankArchiv and immolex.

One of his greatest achievements is his instrumental role in building bank99 AG, where he helped shape a greenfield start-up into one of Austria’s most successful retail banks. He played a key role in establishing the legal department, data protection, and regulatory compliance functions. Initially also acting as Compliance Officer, he was responsible for designing and expanding the bank’s compliance framework from the ground up, providing critical legal expertise throughout the company’s formative years.

Prior to joining bank99 AG, Benim led the Group Banking Supervision Law & Capital Markets Law department at VOLKSBANK WIEN AG. He also worked as a consultant for a leading international advisory firm in the field of banking law, where he supported numerous projects for both national and international banks, investment firms, and asset management companies. He began his legal career at a renowned Austrian law firm, specializing in banking and corporate law. He also completed judicial clerkships at several Austrian courts, including the Regional Civil Court of Vienna.
