Inês Albuquerque e Castro
Inês Albuquerque e Castro joined FCB in 2015 and became a Partner in 2017, where she coordinates the Employment, Benefits and Pensions Department. Inês has over 20 years of experience in the employment and social security area, advising the legal departments and/or the HR departments of several domestic and international companies from different sectors, on a regular basis. Her practice predominantly consists in participating in the labour law issues that arise in collective recruitment processes, restructuring, collective dismissals, transfers of undertakings and other forms of business reorganization. She also advocates for her corporate clients in litigation processes for several labour matters and assists and defends such clients in disciplinary and misdemeanour proceedings against labour authorities. She was involved in the preparation, drafting and publication of the 2003 Labour Code. She is a regular speaker at conferences, seminars and workshops about Labour Law.
Rodrigo Almeida Dias
Rodrigo Almeida Dias joined FCB in 1997 and became a Partner in 2006. He coordinates the Banking and Capital Markets Department and co-heads the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Department. Rodrigo also has significant experience in the Real Estate sector, notable expertise in Private Equity and Corporate Finance and substantial knowledge of the TMT sector. He is a regular speaker in seminars and conferences, and he is the author of multiple opinion articles for national and foreign publications.
Bruno Arez Martins
Bruno Arez Martins joined FCB in 2009 and became a Partner in 2019. He works in the Tax Department. His practice is primarily tax law, with a special focus on tax litigation proceedings, in the administrative and judicial stage, domestic and international tax planning, advising in direct and indirect taxes, property tax, special consumer taxes and criminal and tax liability of members of corporate bodies. Bruno also has a vast experience in Angolan Tax Law and he coordinates the tax area on the Mozambique Desk.
Rodrigo Barbosa Souto
Rodrigo Barbosa Souto joined FCB in 2005 and became a Partner in 2017. He works on the Angola Desk, having a vast experience in the Angolan jurisdiction (with a special focus on real estate and international practice). He is responsible for the coordination of the Angolan projects for many of our International clients. He also develops his practice in the Corporate, Commercial and M&A, the Real Estate, Property and Construction, the Tax and the Energy and Natural Resources Departments.
Diogo Bernardo Monteiro
Diogo Bernardo Monteiro joined FCB in 2000 and became a Partner in 2009, where he coordinates the Tax Department. He develops most of his activity in tax consultancy and litigation and international and domestic tax planning, in the Portuguese, Angolan and Mozambican jurisdictions. He is an experienced tax lawyer very active in providing tax advice to the clients at every stage of transactions, on all aspects of domestic and international tax, in co-ordination with the other practice areas, providing tax-related advice as part of an integrated service, as well as direct advice to the clients. This has led to his recognition and recommendation in several international legal directories. In 2014, he was appointed to the Corporate Income Tax Reform Monitoring Committee by the Secretary of State for Tax Affairs.
Miguel Castelo Branco
Miguel Castelo Branco is the Founding Partner of FCB Advogados. Miguel is widely recognised in Portugal as one of the highest profile and leading lawyers in several practice areas, including restructuring and insolvency (in which he has been involved in the past 20 years in major litigation and arbitration cases, including international arbitrations) and real estate. At FCB, he co-coordinates the Dispute Resolution and Real Estate, Property and Constructions, also developing his work in the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Department. Throughout his professional career, Miguel has also developed a vast experience in business management, performing the Administrator and/or Manager role in several companies.
Mark  Everiss
Mark Everiss
Mark Everiss is a partner in Eversheds Sutherland’s London office. He focuses on insurance and reinsurance policy wording and coverage advice and disputes. He has represented clients in the London insurance market for over 25 years. Mark has handled many significant cases both in the High Court and in arbitration involving various business lines, including third party liability, onshore and offshore energy, financial institutions, product liability, D&O, cyber, warranty & indemnity and contingency, as well as numerous reinsurance disputes in the live and legacy markets. In his spare time, Mark enjoys playing and watching various sports. He is an avid collector of eclectic sporting memorabilia and art. Mark was a director of the Insurance & Reinsurance Legacy Association from 2007 to 2023 and headed up the organising committee of the IRLA Annual Congress from 2017 to 2021. He is also an active member of BILA.
Sofia Ferreira Enriquez
Sofia Ferreira Enriquez joined FCB in 2020 as a Coordinating Associate, assuming the coordination of the Insurance and the Transportation Law Departments. With 20 years of experience, she has developed her practice in the sectors of Insurance, Maritime Law and Transportation, Contracts, International Trade, Regulation, Compliance and Life Sciences, representing leading companies in the national and international markets. She has represented several entities in both new projects, contracts and negotiation,as well as in lawsuits, misdemeanour litigation and arbitration or inregulatory matters. She has contributed with proposals for legislative procedures organized by the World Bank and she was a teacher in several workshops. Sofia has a master’s degree in Legal Sciences – Maritime Law by the Lisbon University Law School, where she taught different matters for nine years and where she still teaches, occasionally, in Post-Graduation Courses.

Samantha Grange
Sam is a member of Shoosmiths’ Planning and CPO Team – recognised as Planning Law Firm of the Year at the Planning Awards 2022 and a Top 5 Team in the Planning Law Survey 2022. Sam advises both public and private sector clients on the legal aspects of the planning approval process, as well as the constraint/risk and land acquisition strategies required to unlock the delivery of major regeneration, infrastructure and renewable energy projects. She also provides planning due diligence and transactional advice, with a particular focus on ensuring a project’s compliance with statutory planning and policy related requirements. Sam has been an integral part of the multi-disciplinary teams charged with both consenting and securing the implementation of prominent schemes within the house building, build-to-rent, student living, leisure, mixed use, rail & road infrastructure and renewable energy sectors. She can advise on the legal and regulatory aspects of the environmental impact assessment process and how to ‘de-risk’ a project and planning application from this perspective. Where required, she can also provide advice on land assembly and the formulation of an acquisition strategy which supports and aligns with a project’s funding strategy and delivery programme. Sam has experience of acting for clients with a planning application at appeal, as well as on a number of planning focused judicial review and statutory High Court challenges. She has also worked on a number of complex compensation claims, representing both the scheme promoter and objectors, which she has prepared for hearing in the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber). Sam is recognised as a “Next Generation Partner” by Legal 500, Planning and Environment (2024). Sam’s recent experience includes: Advising Brenntag, a global chemical storage & distribution company, in connection with the implementation of the development consent order (DCO) secured by Transport for London (TfL) in order to authorise the construction of Silvertown Tunnel, a twin bore road (1.4km long) tunnel providing a new connection between the A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach on Greenwich Peninsula and the Tidal Basin roundabout junction on the A1020 Lower Lea Crossing/Silvertown Way. Development consent for the Silvertown Tunnel was granted by the Secretary of State for Transport in May 2018. Main construction activities commenced in 2020 and the new tunnel is currently planned to open in 2025. Acting on multiple CPO compensation claims at the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) arising as a result of the construction of the A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road which was promoted by Stockport Council. Advising landowners who have and continue to be affected by the project and whose positions have had to be preserved noting the limitation period associated with the compulsory acquisition of their interests in land subject of the CPO. Pursuant to instructions received from the site developer/seller, undertaking planning due diligence and inputting into the transactional documents prepared in connection with the sale of two onshore wind farms located on constrained sites in the Scottish Highlands. Acting for Historic England, development partner to Shropshire Council, on the compulsory purchase orders required to assemble land and to secure the timely delivery of the final phases of the redevelopment of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings – a project intended to revive and restore the site’s complex of historic buildings, including the internationally significant Grade I listed Main Mall which dates back to 1797. It is anticipated that upon completion of the project, the Flaxmill and neighbouring complex of listed buildings will attract in the order of 20,750 visitors per annum. Further, the project will create c.1,000 jobs across the construction and operational phases of the redevelopment, as well as make a contribution of approx. £5.5 million GVA to the local economy.

He coordinates the Energy and Natural Resources Department, also working in the Corporate, Commercial and M&A and the Banking and Capital Markets Departments. He also develops a significant part of his work on the Angola Desk. He has over 20 years of experience. His practice is focused on complex and multijurisdictional projects, which has led to his recognition and recommendation in several international legal directories. Miguel Lorena Brito
Miguel Lorena Brito joined FCB in 2002 and became a Partner in 2007. He co-coordinates the Public, Administrative and Environmental Law and the Real Estate, Property and Constructions. He develops a significant part of his work to public procurement and public contracts, urban planning, environmental matters, expropriations, and administrative litigation. He has wide experience in the real estate sector, construction and public works, participating regularly in arbitration matters related to the execution of public and private works contracts. Miguel is a regular speaker in seminars and conferences in Portugal and author of several articles for national and foreign publications.

Atousa’s main practice is corporate law and commercial law in the Middle East, but due to the diverse nature of her work, as the head of a jurisdiction in the Middle East, she works together with other practice groups across the globe. Her diverse background has given her the opportunity to become familiar with other areas of law and provide advice to clients on matters such as international sanctions, compliance and anti-boycott laws.Atousa has worked on transactions involving international mergers and acquisitions, structuring and restructuring corporate entities, and foreign investments across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. She has advised clients on large transactions including joint ventures, public and private tenders, consortium arrangements and cross-border merger and acquisition in different sectors, including renewable energy, health care and technology.Her multi-jurisdictional knowledge, particularly in the field of corporate and commercial law has allowed her to be perfectly positioned to provide the appropriate advice to clients.
João Osório de Castro
João Osório de Castro joined FCB in 2005 as a Trainee Lawyer, becoming an Associate Lawyer in 2009 and a Partner in 2019. He works in the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Department, also developing his practice in the Energy and Natural Resources Department and the Angola Desk. He has over 15 years of experience and develops his work predominantly in Corporate, cross-border M&A and Commercial Contracts, on behalf of clients from technology, energy, and mobility sectors. João is well regarded for his international skills, namely in the Spanish market, being one of the heads of our representation office in Madrid.

Carlos Pemán
Carlos has more than 20 years of experience as a lawyer. He has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, especially in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and group restructurings. He leads and coordinates transactions for both international and domestic clients in various sectors including healthcare, food, diversified industrials and technology. Carlos also regularly advises clients on general corporate and governance issues, as well as in their day to day commercial legal matters; he acts as Secretary to the board of many companies.
João Robles
João Robles joined FCB in 2002 and became a Partner in 2015, where he coordinates the Angola Desk. Developing his professional career in the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Department, he has also a vast experience in the Real Estate sector, for Portugal and Angola’s jurisdictions. During the last 10 years, João has been deeply involved in the Oil & Gas sector, not just in assisting oil operators but also providing legal counsel to the service providers in the oil industry, especially in the Angolan jurisdiction. As responsible for the Angola Desk, João has an in-depth knowledge in practice areas that include commercial and M&A, Real Estate and Construction in that country, which has led to his recognition and recommendation in several international legal directories.
Margarida Roda Santos
Margarida Roda Santos joined FCB in 2005 and became a Partner in 2017. She coordinates the Life Sciences and the Intellectual Property Departments, where her team handles the full scope of IP matters, with extensive experience on IT, Data Protection and IP Litigation – both for the Portuguese jurisdiction and abroad (namely Angola and Mozambique) – as well as Life Science matters, including all regulatory aspects related to Medicines, Medical Devises and Cosmetics.  She also develops part of her work integrated in the Corporate, Commercial and M&A Department, where she leads the Consumer and Advertising Law practice since 2005. Margarida is the author of several articles on Intellectual Property, IT, Data Protection and Life Sciences issues for Portuguese and foreign publications. She is also a speaker at several seminars on Data Protection Law.
Paula Teixeira da Cruz
Paula Teixeira da Cruz is a Partner at FCB, joining the firm in 2006. She co-coordinates the Public, Administrative and Environmental Law Department, developing her work in this area, including Administrative Law, Public Law, Regulatory Law, Corporate Law, Urbanisation, Public Markets, Competition, Energy, Telecommunications, Waters, Waste, Environmental, Dispute Resolution and Arbitration. Paula was an advisor for the Portuguese Government multiple times. She was also a member of the Superior Council of Magistrates, of the General Council of the Portuguese Bar Association and of the Superior Council of the Public Ministry. During her time as Minister of Justice, she implemented a group of measures to reform the Portuguese judicial system that was generally praised by the IFM and the European Commission.
