Glenn Newberry

Glenn is a Partner, Costs Lawyer and Head of Eversheds Sutherland's Litigation Funding and Costs teams. Qualifying in 1995, he has over 25 years of experience in the field of costs, and since 2018 has headed the Litigation Funding team bringing creative funding solutions to the forefront of the firm's litigation offering.

A large part of Glenn's role is advising clients like you, whether bringing or defending claims, in court or arbitration, as to the options available, many of which are jurisdiction-specific, to fund, de-risk, and off-book litigation risk and spend, finding solutions which enable clients to share the risks and rewards with law firms, funders and insurers, in a truly collaborative way.

Glenn is also an expert in the field of costs disputes and budgeting. Everything from getting the proper funding agreement in place, preparing budgets for courts (in the UK) and clients, and getting the correct costs award (both in terms of liability and quantum). Glenn can bring his experience and background to his funding work also.

Glenn has been the lead advocate in numerous detailed assessment hearings, including a number of multi-day listings and has represented clients in costs disputes and wider litigation matters, all the way to the Supreme Court.

Glenn is a member of the FS Sector and has acted for a number of high street banks regarding consumer claims, including PPI and Section 75 CCA claims, as well as representing FS clients regarding global asset recovery matters in respect of which Glenn has been able to bring his expertise in costs, budgeting and funding to the fore.

Over his career, Glenn has presented on numerous occasions regarding costs developments and presented at and facilitated a number of webinars regarding litigation funding and options.

Glenn regularly provides bespoke training sessions to clients, especially in-house legal, regarding costs and funding issues.
