Position

Mark is a partner and head of the pensions team at Weightmans. He has a broad pensions practice advising employers, scheme trustees and others on all aspects of pensions law. Mark’s work includes advising on regulatory compliance, scheme governance, liability management, scheme documentation and dispute resolution. Mark also advises on the pensions aspects of mergers, acquisitions and corporate re-organisations. Mark advises on all types of schemes in both the public and private sectors. His work is informed by his past experience in the in-house legal team of an FTSE 100 plc and prior to that his roles in pensions management and trusteeship.

Weightmans LLP  has an ‘excellent team’ under the leadership of the ‘well-known and sensibleMark Poulston. Poulston has particular expertise in handling the pension aspects of corporate transactions as well as on scheme redesign and terminations. He also frequently advises on life insurance matters. Jane Marshall  is well regarded for her work where matters span employment and pension law such as public sector outsourcing and pension scheme changes. The team is advising the Equality and Human Rights Commission (a principal employer of a defined benefit occupational pension scheme) on the winding up of the scheme. Other clients include Liverpool Hope University, Pochin’s and the Football Pools.
