Mike Carew is a tax partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He focuses his practice on the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, buyouts and private equity investing, with a special emphasis on cross-border and international transactions. He also advises clients on the tax aspects of securities issuances, recapitalizations, joint ventures, and debt and equity restructurings. Mike has worked on numerous private equity and M&A transactions for clients including: Bain Capital, Baxalta Incorporated, Molson Coors Brewing Company, Summit Partners, GTCR, Apax Partners, and Blackstone.

Carew has been advising Apax Partners on its acquisition of a controlling stake in Healthium MedTech Private Limited, a leading India-based medical devices company. Todd Maynes continues to advise Tronox Limited on the tax aspects of the acquisition of the titanium dioxide business of Cristal, a privately held global chemical and mining company, valued at $2.2bn.  Lee Morlock is recommended.
