Career

Cori Lable is a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong and a partner in Kirkland & Ellis LLP (U.S.), where she is a member of the Firm’s Government & Internal Investigations Group. A widely recognized practitioner, Cori specializes in representing multinational clients throughout Asia in defense of cross-border government investigations and enforcement actions, and advising on risk management in international business transactions. She has extensive experience advising clients in the private equity, pharmaceutical, medical device, industrials, energy, and financial services sectors regarding compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other U.S. securities, export controls, anti-money laundering and health care fraud statutes, and has led numerous investigations across Asia, including in China, India, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Malaysia.

Cori has for many years been named as a leading anti-corruption practitioner for India and China by Legal 500 Asia-Pacific, Chambers Asia-Pacific and Chambers Global.  She was named “White Collar Crime Lawyer of the Year” by Euromoney APAC Women in Business Law Awards in 2022, and a “Litigation Star” for White Collar Crime by Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific for four consecutive years from 2020 to 2023. Cori has also been designated as a “Highly Regarded” individual for Financial Services Regulatory in the 2020 – 2023 editions of IFLR1000, as well as being named to IFLR1000’s global “Women Leaders” ranking in 2022 – 2023.

The practice works across a number of industries including global private equity sponsors, asset managers, and multinational corporations. It is particularly adept at managing alleged financial frauds, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, and economic sanctions. In Shanghai, co-head Tiana Zhang is a ‘leader in the field‘ of regulatory compliance, and is sought out by clients for her skill in US and China cross-border crisis management, including complex financial fraud investigations. Cross-border dispute specialist Tiana Zhang, who has litigation experience in both the US and China, leads the Mainland China litigation practice from Shanghai, where Yue Qiu also acts in cross-border litigation.
