Career

Anna is Partner and the head of the Court of Protection team at Fieldfisher. She has specialised exclusively in Court of Protection work for over ten years and has considerable experience of managing complex deputyships and personal injury trusts for adults and children. Many of Anna's clients have sustained serious brain injuries as a result of catastrophic accidents or birth trauma and have received substantial damages awards, which need to be managed carefully in order to meet their lifetime needs.

Anna acts as a professional deputy and trustee and provides expert evidence on Court of Protection and deputyship costs. She has experience of all aspects of Court of Protection work including complex statutory wills, applications for gifts and settlements, investigating and reporting on the financial abuse of vulnerable individuals, health and welfare applications and advising non-solicitors on their role and responsibilities as a lay deputy or trustee.

Anna has a particular interest in deputyships for children and young adults who have sustained injuries at birth. She works closely with litigation solicitors while claims are ongoing to ensure that both interim and final awards of damages are applied in her clients' best interests. She takes a very collaborative approach and enjoys working with families, case managers, support teams and investment advisers to promote her clients' independence and ensure their lifetime's needs are met.

Anna trained at Thomson Snell & Passmore in Kent, and progressed to Associate before leaving in 2011 after a total of six years with the firm. She went on to join Irwin Mitchell as an Associate before being appointed Associate Manager of its large Court of Protection team in London. She returned to TS&P for 18 months in 2016, before joining Fieldfisher as a Partner in 2017, to lead its growing Court of Protection team.

  • Is comparative advertising unfair?

THE EUROPEAN COURT OF JUSTICE (ECJ) IS IN THE midst of considering questions referred to it by the UK courts in three separate cases that should clarify the law regarding comparative advertising. This type of advertising, particularly when it identifies a competitor or a competitor’s goods or services by referring to a registered trade mark, is of particular concern to trade mark owners as their competitors normally seek to make unfavourable comparisons with their own goods or services, or to take advantage of being associated with the market leader’s brand.
