Licks Attorneys announced this Monday (November 21) the promotion of two attorneys at law to partners: Ciro Albuquerque and Rodolfo Barreto, both members of the firm since 2015. The news reflects Licks Attorneys’ commitment to recognizing in-house talent and promoting the career development of its members.
Ciro Albuquerque has been a member of Licks Attorneys since June 2015. He started working in Rio de Janeiro and moved to Brasília in 2018 as part of the firm’s efforts to open a new office in the city. Later in 2021, Ciro assumed as head of the Brasilia office. Post-graduated in Intellectual Property at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ), he has more than a decade of experience in Brazilian courts, and extensive practice focused on complex disputes, working on relevant patent infringement and invalidity cases. Ciro also has extensive experience in regulatory matters and administrative proceedings before public bodies. He is a member of the Intellectual Property Commission and Vice-Chairman of the Regulatory Affairs Commission, both at the regional branch of the Federal District of the Brazilian BAR Association (OAB/DF).
Rodolfo Barreto has been a member of Licks Attorneys since October 2015. He focus his practice on high-profile cases related to ICT (Information and Communication Technology) patents in Brazil, having acquired one-of-a-kind expertise in high-stakes patent litigation and cross-jurisdictional disputes. He is a MEc candidate in Innovation and Intellectual Property at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He also specialized in legal and administrative matters involving antitrust and Standard-Essential Patents (SEPs). Rodolfo was recognized by the Client Choice Award in 2022 as one of the best Litigation attorneys in Brazil. He is the Coordinator of the Specialized Committee for 5G, Technical Standards and Technological Innovation of Rio de Janeiro’s regional branch of the Brazilian BAR Association (OAB/RJ).
