DLA Piper's team, which has 'excellent market knowledge', is well versed in deal structuring and transactional support, regulatory matters and energy finance work, particularly in the wind power sector. In a recent highlight, the group advised OX2 Group on the Valhalla wind project. Peter Ihrfelt leads the practice, which also includes Björn Sjöberg, special counsel Mats Eriksson and senior associate Johan Forsling.

Foyen Advokatfirma regularly acts for clients in the nuclear, wind, hydroelectric power, gas and biogas sectors; Jacob Hamilton advised OX2 on the negotiation of its supply agreements and service agreements. Pia Pehrson and Andreas Lindström jointly lead the practice; Pehrson counts E.ON and Equinor (formerly Statoil) as clients. Richard Sahlberg is also noted.

Mannheimer Swartling's cross-departmental energy practice has experience in disputes, financing matters, transactions and regulatory issues. Key practitioners Andreas Zettergren, Emma Olnäs Fors and Therese Strömshed acted for GE and Green Investment Group on a joint project to deliver wind power through a wind farm in Northern Sweden. Other clients include Vattenfall and Skanska Wind Power Invest.

The department at Setterwalls 'has the great ability to be able to sort out complicated legal processes to ensure that all parts are handled correctly'. In a recent mandate, the group assisted Aquila Capital with its acquisition of the Valhalla wind farm project from OX2 Group. Jonas Frii 'provides invaluable guidance' and is particularly experienced in acquisitions and financings. Frii, Tove Andersson, who has 'expert knowledge in environmental law', and Anders Linnerborg jointly lead the team; senior associate Elin Hjort is also noted.

Advokatfirman Vinge fields a 'competent team with the resources to answer diverse questions' and has significant expertise in transactions, energy financings and regulatory matters. The 'widely experienced' Christoffer Thalin advised Ikea on multiple wind power projects, and Johan Göthberg, who has 'a proactive approach', assisted BlackRock with its acquisition of a majority stake in Sjisjka wind park from Skanska. Göthberg, Thalin and Robert Deli jointly lead the practice.

Hammarskiöld & Co AB is increasingly involved in M&A-related work and also provides regulatory advice in the energy sector; the team assisted Folksam with its acquisition of Fortum’s electricity distribution business in Sweden. Practice head Jakob Falkman is well versed in the renewable energy and energy-tech sectors, and Lars Ulrichs is experienced in energy-related disputes.

The team at Ramberg Advokater counts private companies and public entities as clients and handles a broad range of energy-related matters. Practice head Maria Hagberg is experienced in commercial energy law and regulatory assignments; Torbjörn Claeson and Johan Palmgren are other key practitioners.

Roschier is well positioned in the market for clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors; it acted for multiple clients in energy disputes as well as in mergers and acquisitions. Björn Winström is 'very knowledgeable about the business side of matters' and jointly leads the practice with Johan Sidklev and Johan Häger. Markus Olsson was promoted to partner in 2018.

The department at Wistrand delivers 'high-quality results' on the full range of energy issues; the team assisted Falbygden Energi with the sale of its hydropower plant, Qvissle Vattenkraftverk. Volvo, Stena Renewable and Skangas are also clients. The 'knowledgeable and experienced' Rudolf Laurin leads the team and is noted for his experience in representing clients in permitting procedures.

The department at Advokatfirman Delphi covers a variety of mandates from license applications and energy investments to project financings and dispute resolution. Senior adviser Per Berglöf, Ulf Hårdeman and Erica Nobel are key names to note.

Advokatfirman Lindahl KB has experience in energy projects and works closely with the firm's other departments to handle contract work, real estate and property issues, environment law matters and project financings. Per-Anders Bengtsson is the key practitioner; he recently assisted Scandinavian Biogas with its acquisition of a majority stake in Biokraft. Jörgen Möller and Peter Högström joined Cirio.

The energy practice at Magnusson Advokatbyrå handles transactions, renewable energy investments, contentious matters and investments in international climate projects. In a recent highlight, the team advised Altus Capital as sponsor on the planned listing of Dragon Mining on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Jonas Bergquist is a key practitioner and is particularly experienced in emission trading projects.

  • Foyen has advised Mandalay Resources in 32 Million USD share issue

    Foyen has advised Canadian mining company Mandalay Resources Corporation inits marketed public offering of shares (subscription rights) on the Toronto stock exchange for aggregate gross proceeds of 43 million CAD (32 MUSD).Mandalay is the 100 % owner of the Bjorkdal gold mine in northern Sweden and the transaction has required legal opinions regarding all companies and permits in the Swedish business operation.
