Boutique firm Fröberg & Lundholm Advokatbyrå is highly regarded in the market and focuses solely on environment and land law. The team advises clients from the waste management, steel, paper and energy sectors as well as public authorities on a range of matters including cross-border environmental regulatory work. Magnus Fröberg handled the permitting process for Northvolt relating to a new demonstration line and research facility. Mikael Berglund and Mikael Hägglöf are also noteworthy.

Mannheimer Swartling fields a team of experienced lawyers, which deals with permit applications, environmental risk management issues and product compliance matters. Practice head Felicia Ullerstam assisted Björkdalsgruvan, which is part of the Mandalay Resources Group, with obtaining a new environmental permit relating to the operations at its gold mine. Per Molander, Bo Hansson and Therese Strömshed are other names to note. Joel Mårtensson made partner in 2018.

At Advokatfirman Vinge, the environment team works closely with the real estate and M&A practice groups and is well versed in the full range of issues in the field. In a recent highlight, newly promoted partner Johan Cederblad is advising a property owner on permit application processes relating to a planned railway project. Thomas Sjöberg is experienced in transactional work and contentious issues; specialist Mathias Lindquist is another name to note.

The practice at Advokatfirman Delphi 'has great knowledge and experience' and fields Erica Nobel, who is 'highly analytical and excellent at creating strategies'; Nobel recently assisted the municipality and harbour of Norrköping with several applications for environmental permits regarding water undertakings and environmentally hazardous activities. Oskar Frankki is another key name and senior associate Christina Hellström is 'skilled in the field'.

At Front Advokater, 'skilled and thorough lawyer' Maria Paijkull acted for Karlskrona municipality in a permit matter before the Land and Environment Court relating to the backfilling and creation of new water areas in order to subsequently expand the municipalities port. Malin Wikström is also highly regarded.

The 'high-quality' team at Setterwalls regularly handles transactions alongside the firm's M&A group and is also experienced in regulatory matters and permit trials. The 'very good' Tove Andersson is noted for her expertise in permit processes and regulatory mandates; she recently represented Stena Renewable in multiple regulatory proceedings. Anders Linnerborg has significant experience in liability issues for contaminated land, and specialist counsel Linnea Ljung joined from Mannheimer Swartling in 2018.

Advokatfirman Åberg & Co AB counts industrial and construction companies, municipalities, county councils and state-owned enterprises as clients and is active in dispute resolution and negotiations. Mårten Bengtsson is the key contact.

Boutique firm Alrutz' Advokatbyrå AB focuses on environmental law matters including water and mining rights, and regularly assists clients with permit issues and reassessments of regulated activities. Louis Vasseur is well versed in the energy sector; other practice members include Thomas Carlberg, Mats Björk and Susanne Witt-Strömer.

Foyen Advokatfirma is experienced in infrastructure and mining projects; practice head Pia Pehrson successfully represented Castellum in contentious building permit processes relating to the Planning and Building Act. The team is also on the panels of several institutions including the City of Gothenburg. Senior associate Caterina Carreman is active in the field.

Advokatfirman Lindahl KB is praised for its 'accessibility and competence'; the team regularly acts on permit and license matters and conducts environmental due diligence and risk assessments related to M&A and other commercial transactions. Practice head Mikael Wärnsby is representing the municipality of Halmstad in several ongoing court cases regarding damages claims.

The department at Magnusson Advokatbyrå is instructed by clients from the public and private sectors to assist with permit applications, environmental risk assessments related to transactions, and issues regarding emission rights. Clients include Wallhamn, Viavest and the Swedish Energy Agency. Mårten Tagaeus and Jonas Bergquist are the key contacts.

Magdalena Persson¬†at¬†MAQS Advokatbyr√•¬†is experienced in the administrative and civil law aspects of environmental legislation; she recently represented the municipality of √Ėstersund in a case involving environmental damages. Senior associate¬†Christina Rydell Ahlstr√∂m¬†is also well versed in environmental law.

Wistrand's practice is 'highly competent' and regularly assists clients from the manufacturing, quarry, waste and energy sectors on a broad range of environmental matters.   • Foyen has advised Mandalay Resources in 32 Million USD share issue

    Foyen has advised Canadian mining company Mandalay Resources Corporation inits marketed public offering of shares (subscription rights) on the Toronto stock exchange for aggregate gross proceeds of 43 million CAD (32 MUSD).Mandalay is the 100 % owner of the Bjorkdal gold mine in northern Sweden and the transaction has required legal opinions regarding all companies and permits in the Swedish business operation.
