Augusta Abogados, formerly known as Fornesa Abogados, has a strong aviation department commended for its 'client focus'. It handles the sale, lease, financing and repossession of aircraft. On the litigation side, it defends airlines against passenger claims. The client portfolio includes airlines such as easyJet, Germania, Ryanair and Vueling. Sergi Giménez handles his work 'with care', is 'detail oriented' and is recommended along with Jaime Fernández.

A firm mainly focused on maritime law, Ruiz-Gálvez Abogados SLP also covers land and air transport matters. Fernando Ruiz-Galvez acts on a broad range of non-contentious work and Leticia Ruiz-Galvez Juzgado regularly handles passenger claims.

Aiyon Abogados SLP is 'excellent at analysing possible scenarios' and 'knows the value of negotiations over disputes'. Recent road transport work included handling CMR convention claims concerning insurance policies and damaged cargo; air transport matters included dry lease and charter contracts. Julia Garcia and Zuberoa Elorriaga are recommended.

Led by Manuel L√≥pez, Ashurst LLP's¬†five-strong team acts on railway, road and air transport matters. The¬†high-speed railway concessionaire¬†TP Ferro and¬†train manufacturer¬†CAF are long-term clients.¬†Superstrada Pedemontana Veneta retained the group to advise on a ‚ā¨1.57bn bond issue to finance the construction of a toll road. While the practice's main strength is project financings, it is also experienced in handling road concessions.

Cuatrecasas acts on passenger and freight transport matters. Frequently involved in innovative transportation issues, the group advised Moove Cars on the integration agreement with King Street Capital Management to operate 4,000 VTC licences. On the contentious side, it represented Uber before the European Court of Justice in an unfair competition claim. Tax expert Francisco Cavero and public law counsel Jorge Botello are recommended.

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo's asset finance expertise extends to different modes of transportation, with a focus on aircraft finance. Recent work includes advising Export Development Canada on providing senior debt to a special purpose vehicle for the financing of four Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft. Senior associates Fernando Herrero and José Canalejas are the names to note.

In addition to maritime law, the 'experienced and professional' team at Rogers & Co. Abogados covers aviation and road transport. It represented new client Chubb in litigation against a road haulier concerning the theft of pharmaceutical devices during the carriage from Italy to Spain. Luis Alberto García is the name to note.

Ventura Garcés & López-Ibor assisted clients such as Aircastle, the China Aircraft Leasing Group and Gecas with the acquisition, sale and lease of aircraft. Another highlight was advising Jet2 on its Resort Flight Check-In programme. Alfonso López-Ibor and senior associate Pable Stöger Pérez are noted.

Watson Farley & Williams LLP is recommended for aviation finance. It assisted Avolon with the acquisition and financing of two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, and advised Era Helicopters on dry lease agreements. Alfredo Cabellos and senior associate Laura Cadenas are recommended.

Under the leadership of Jabier Badiola, Dentons is highly recommended for aviation finance. Recent work includes assisting Avolon and Apollo Aviation Group with the acquisition and subsequent lease of aircraft. Another highlight was advising Wamos Air on entering into an operating lease agreement for three aircraft with AerSale.

Aviation finance is one of Uría Menéndez's areas of focus, with Carlos López-Quiroga the name to note. On the rail transport side, he advised Ferrovial on launching a digital platform for the planning of transport routes.
