Mondini Rusconi Studio Legale's food team is 'competent, responsive and always available', and demonstrates a high level of 'enthusiasm for its work'. The group is experienced in regulatory and compliance matters, consumer and advertising law, labelling and presentation, and food-related intellectual property (IP) and litigation. Head of team Giorgio Rusconi and senior associate Omar Cesana are advising a household-name Italian ham producer on regulatory and consumer laws applicable to its newly-modified recipe. The team also assisted a major fast food chain with the launch of a new children's menu, which included providing regulatory compliance advice on health and nutritional claims. Other notable clients include Lidl Italia and Dairy UK.

Bird & Bird's IP expertise is accompanied by strengths in competition, dispute resolution, corporate and M&A, administrative law and compliance work in the food sector. A group led by Giovanni Galimberti successfully acted for Consorzio del Prosecco in litigation concerning the designation of the origin of Prosecco. Another key success was the group's representation of Cargill in patent litigation related to its method for producing the sweetener maltitol. Massimiliano Mostardini, counsel Fulvio Mellucci and associate Rita Tardiolo are other names to note.

Studio Legale Corte focuses exclusively on food law matters; the scope of its work includes compliance advice, assistance with the implementation of new food laws, challenging regulatory sanctions and corporate criminal defence. The team advised a major retailer on the composition, production, labelling and advertising of new pastry products. It also successfully acted for a wholesale supplier in criminal litigation where it was alleged that the company's legal representative had been contaminating a food product. Paola Corte is experienced in compliance matters. Elena Corte is the name to note for advice on food hygiene issues.

The food and beverage¬†group at¬†DLA Piper¬†is active in corporate and M&A, employment, IP and¬†litigation.¬†Wolf Michael K√ľhne¬†is the¬†head of the practice. Highlights included successfully acting for Mondelńďz International in a patent infringement litigation pertaining to its product Philadelphia cheese.¬†Goffredo Guerra¬†has 'wonderful business acumen' and associate Elena Varese¬†is 'a very skilled IP and advertising lawyer, with extensive¬†experience of¬†the¬†beverages industry'.

The 'highly skilled and professional' team at Nctm Studio Legale is 'always available and accountable'. Core areas of focus include corporate (including M&A), commercial and regulatory matters. A group led by Bernard O’Connor advises Jackson Family Wines on licences for its Italian winery, and related property and employment issues. The team also advises Associated British Foods on regulatory and contractual issues concerning the Twinings business. Paolo Gallarati and Paolo Lazzarino are additional names to note.

Nicola Lucifero is the head of LCA Studio Legale's food department, having joined the firm from Studio Legale Tosato in July 2017. Lucifero is a member of multiple food-related organisations, including the Italian Association of Food Law and the Consortium for Research and Training on Food Safety. The group handles food labelling, health claims and food-related corporate, compliance and employment matters.

Trevisan & Cuonzo's 'dream team' has 'excellent problem-solving skills'. Recent highlights included advising a wheat company on product labelling issues, and representing a major consumer goods company in a copyright violation case concerning its advertising campaign for an ice cream product. Luca Trevisan and Gabriel Cuonzo are key contacts.

'Upfront and commercially adept' managing partner Roberta Crivellaro is the head of the food practice group at Withers Studio Legale.
