BonelliErede’s team acts on large real estate deals, property financings and tax structuring, as well as a range of disputes over issues such as property ownership, leasing and planning; clients include property companies, institutional investors, real estate funds and asset management companies. Recent instructions include advising Fawaz Al Hokair (a Saudi Arabian real estate and fashion retail company) on the framework agreement for the development of the Milanosesto area, which includes residential buildings and a shopping centre. The team advised Carpathia Real Estate and Stardust Real Estate on the sale of a real estate complex in Milan. Rome-based Domenico Tulli and Milan-based Davide Braghini are recommended along with Alessandro Stoppa, who divides time between Milan and London.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer was recently active in cross-border and domestic transactions, complex real estate financings, and regulatory matters. Milan-based Marzio Longo, who is ‘user-friendly, focuses on solutions and always available’, advised Host Hotels & Resorts on the sale of eight hotels to a consortium.

Highly experienced in real estate matters’, Legance – Avvocati Associati acts on developments, the listing of real estate companies, property finance transactions, and the establishment of property funds. Recent work includes advising Fondo Milan Prime Offices on the sale of a building designed by Renzo Piano. Allen & Overy – Studio Legale Associato’s experience includes the acquisition, disposal, and reorganisation of real estate assets, as well as financings, taxation, developments, fund-related regulatory issues, and administrative issues such as town planning and environmental law. The team recently advised M&G Real Estate on the acquisition of Da Vinci Retail Park, which is the largest in Italy. The Italian real estate practice is now headed by Claudio Cerabolini, following Paolo Rulli’s move to Grimaldi SL LLP. The team advised global asset manager, Northstar, on the €120m sale of an iconic office complex in Milan’s historic city centre.

Gatti Pavesi Bianchi Studio Legale Associato is recommended for the investment management, development and financing of real estate assets, as well as town planning issues. The team advised Edizione Property on the acquisition, via a public bid, of Florence’s Palazzo Borsa Merci. The key figures are Andrea Giardino and recent hire Rocco Ferrari, who joined from Pavia e Ansaldo; he has ‘deep industry knowledge and is very practical’.

Grimaldi SL LLP recruited Clifford Chance’s former head of real estate Paolo Rulli to join the Milan office. The practice’s experience includes advising on acquisitions, developments, financings, real estate funds, and office and retail leasing. Carmine Oncia is a real estate finance expert.

Hogan Lovells Studio Legale has a full-service real estate practice, which extends to planning, zoning and environmental law. It advised Invesco Real Estate on the acquisition of a renovated office property. Milan-based Marco Rota Candiani heads the Italian real estate practice, in which counsel Maria Deledda is recommended.

Jones Day’s practice includes real estate transactions, property financings and funds. Francesco Squerzoni is a real estate finance expert. The team advised Deka Immobilien Investment on the acquisition of an office building in Milan and related bank financing. Matteo Troni is an experienced of counsel.

NCTM Studio Legale experienced particular growth in logistics, retail, sport, stadiums and town planning matters. The team has extensive hospitality sector experience, where Milan-based Luigi Croce assisted The Student Hotel group with the acquisition of a holding company which owns a building in Bologna that will be renovated into a modern hotel.

Molinari e Associati recently spun off from Lombardi Molinari Segni. The practice’s experience includes advising on large Italian real estate developments, as well as acquisitions and sales of land parcels and real estate portfolios. Ugo Molinari is recommended.

At Osborne Clarke, corporate real estate partner Simone Monesi shows ‘in-depth knowledge of all real estate matters’. and is recommended for advising on the establishment of investment structures and setting up joint ventures with co-investors, as well as the acquisition, development, management and sale of assets.
