Shook Lin & Bok Appoints Liew Kai Zee as Managing Partner

Singapore, 30 August 2023 — We are pleased to announce the appointment of Liew Kai Zee as the Firm’s Managing Partner with immediate effect.

Kai Zee joined the Firm as a pupil in 1996. Over the past 28 years, he has built his reputation as a leading lawyer and is highly regarded by both clients and colleagues. As head of the Firm’s Banking & Finance Practice and member of the Firm’s Executive Committee, Kai Zee has contributed significantly to the growth of the Firm.

He is also a people-oriented person, which is an important trait to engage everyone in the Firm and build a strong culture,” said Sarjit Singh Gill, SC, Senior Partner of the Firm. “It is a natural progression for him to take on this role to bring the Firm to new heights, as he already has been involved in the day-to-day operations of the Firm and has been instrumental in driving many of the Firm’s major initiatives.”

He maintains his position as the only ranked lawyer in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific Hall of Fame for Banking & Finance. He is also noted as a leading
banking and finance lawyer in various other legal publications including Chambers Global/Asia Pacific, IFLR1000 and Asialaw. With the knowledge and experience which he has accumulated over the decades in his area of practice, Kai Zee is also the legal trainer for several financial institutions in Singapore and the region.
