Six months of joint efforts by the Sayenko Kharenko IP Practice, the Cyber Police and the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine have resulted in the elimination of a criminal group that specialized in the manufacturing and wholesale distribution of counterfeited laundry and household products carrying globally-known brands. These counterfeit products were produced in different facilities located in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, then labeled and distributed as originals throughout Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. More than a dozen simultaneous raids were conducted in the beginning of October by different units of the National Police of Ukraine. More than 150 tons of counterfeited laundry and household chemicals, empty packaging and labels, as well as raw materials and production equipment was seized. An inventory of this huge volume of seized evidence took two days to complete. Currently, all criminal group members, including the suspected leaders, have been identified by police and will now be brought to justice.

These raids are the result of a criminal investigation initiated by Sayenko Kharenko earlier this year as part of the firm’s strategic anti-counterfeiting support for the world’s foremost IP brands.

Sayenko Kharenko’s IP Team will continue effective delivery of full-service protection of intellectual property rights to brand owners.
