Raue advised energy system provider GP JOULE on the conclusion of a power purchase agreement (PPA) for regional solar power with Airbus Helicopters in Donauwörth. The PPA, as signed by both companies, will secure long-term low electricity prices for Airbus, thereby strengthening its Donauwörth plant and helping to reduce the company’s CO2 emissions.

GP JOULE is expected to install a 3.5-megawatt-peak photovoltaic system at the Donauried Energy Park in early 2022, using approximately 8,000 Trina Solar modules. The solar power will be transmitted via a 6 km direct line to the Airbus Helicopters factory site. The plant is expected to supply Airbus with around 3.85 gigawatt hours of regional green electricity per year. The project will not rely on the German renewable energy support scheme.

Raue advised GP JOULE comprehensively on the drafting and negotiation of the Power Purchase Agreement with Airbus.

GP JOULE was founded in 2009 based on the belief that a 100 per cent renewable energy supply is feasible. Today, GP JOULE is a system provider for integrated energy solutions from solar, wind and biomass power, as well as being a partner at the supply level for electricity, heat, hydrogen and electromobility. This makes GP JOULE a pioneering company in the area of energy system integration. Some 400 people work for the medium-sized group of companies in Germany, Europe and North America.
