Raue focuses on litigation in the energy sector, including gas and electricity concession award procedures before the Federal Court of Justice and the repayment of the EEG levy to grid operators. This offer is complemented by regulatory expertise, where the team assists energy suppliers with the development of new business models and infrastructure projects, including the hydrogen sector, as well as experience in advising on transactions and joint ventures; Corporate VC matters are handled in close cooperation with the venture capital practice. Recent growth areas include smart metering, e-mobility and the advice to investors on green investment products. The team is led by Christian von Hammerstein, who covers all contentious and non-contentious energy law matters, he is supported by counsel Peter Roegele (energy law and financial regulatory law) and energy, antitrust and procurement law specialist Hans Heller; the latter made partner in January 2022.

Raue‘s team follows a full-service approach and offers regulatory and transactional know-how, which is utilised by investors, start-ups, medical care centers, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and hospitals. The latter regularly instruct Wolfgang Kuhla in connection with planning and financing issues and the drafting of cooperation agreements and physicians’ contracts. Katharina Wodarz, in addition to transactional support, is well versed in pharmacy and pharmaceutical pricing law and also assists with contentious proceedings before the authorities and courts. Maren Bedau (hospital sector, physician contract law, nursing care companies and compliance) is another key contact. The team’s interface capacities include data protection, competition, corporate and employment law, which are frequently handled in cross-practice cooperation.

Led by Robert Heine and Jan Hegemann, Raue‘s team advises and represents large press organisations such as Bloomberg and Axel Springer, including affiliated companies, in matters pertaining to free speech and personal rights as well as related contentious proceedings. This is complemented by expertise in interfacing art law and copyright issues. Felix Laurin Stang and Anna-Sophie Hollenders also cover this intersection and are supported by senior associate Lisa Schopp.

Private equity > Venture capital Tier 2

Raue advises investors, companies and start-ups and has particular experience in the sectors media, telecoms, financial services and energy. The team frequently cooperates with the regulatory, corporate, employment and company law teams across practices. Michael Gläsner also covers these interfaces, which, in addition to his experience in private equity and venture capital, also includes expertise in corporate and M&A. Andreas Nelle heads the team and handles corporate law matters in transactions.

Raue frequently acts in close cooperation with foreign firms and assists with new business models, broadband expansion in the EU and fee regulation matters. Practice head Kornelius Kleinlein is a key contact for the latter. The team also represents telecommunications companies before the Federal Network Agency and in regulatory audits, civil court proceedings in connection with fee issues as well as antitrust infringement proceedings. Other core areas include satellite communications and broadcasting.

Raue's IP team acts both in an advisory and forensic capacity and assists clients, primarily from the media and healthcare sectors, with classic advertising law, e-commerce-related matters as well as counterfeiting. The group further covers trade mark issues and copyright as well as the data protection interface. Key figures include Markus Plesser, who is experienced in licensing agreements, Robert Heine (media and copyright) and Felix Laurin Stang, who advises on e-commerce issues, among other matters.

Raue's Berlin-based team impresses with strong relationships to the public sector as well as with media regulation expertise, while recently also becoming increasingly active on postal law issues within the framework of the Post Fee Regulation Ordinance; here, the practice applies its longstanding experience in sectors with regulated fees, in particular telecommunications and aviation. The frequently recommended Wolfram Hertel leads the team, which also includes European law expert Hans Heller, who made partner in January 2022, and Christoph-David Munding, who is experienced in representing commerce and industry chambers.

Transport > Advice to the transport sector Tier 3

In transport law, Raue mainly focuses on public transport and aviation, where the firm recently increasingly advised on matters pertaining to climate protection and decarbonisation. Co-head Kornelius Kleinlein is primarily active in the areas transport infrastructure and tariff regulation; he jointly heads the team with Wolfram Hertel, who is well versed in public law and public procurement law.

Raue advises the public sector, corporations and companies on planning law issues relating to infrastructure projects and larger real estate projects, including residential construction projects and urban development. The team around Wolfram Hertel is based in Berlin and primarily focuses on projects in the capital and its surroundings, such as planning the redesign of the former Berlin-Tegel Airport site.

Acting for for both bidders and the public sector, Raue's procurement expertise is primarily applied in the regulated energy, media and healthcare industries as well as in the real estate and infrastructure sectors  and, in addition to extensive support in procurement proceedings, also covers procurement compliance. The bar-certified specialist for public procurement Bettina Tugendreich leads the team and Hans Heller, who focuses on the energy and raw materials sectors, made partner in January 2022.

Real estate and construction > Real estate Tier 5

Raue 's Berlin-based practice offers longstanding expertise in real estate transactions, here, practice head Cornelia Gorn is particularly well versed in the healthcare sector. The transactional capacities in the asset categories office, retail and logistics were strengthened with the addition of Stefanie Rzeniecki (formerly at EY Law ) in March 2022. A further focus is on project developments, where the team frequently cooperates with the construction law team. Rzeniecki is also well versed in commercial tenancy law.

Raue's antitrust advice focuses on transaction-related merger controls, compliance and damages claims. The team has in-depth knowledge of the energy, media and healthcare sectors, with the latter recently increasingly being applied in advising healthcare providers and pharmaceutical companies. Berlin-based cartel damages compensation expert Michael Bergmann heads the unit, which also includes energy specialists Christian von Hammerstein and Bernd Beckmann as well as Hans Heller, who made partner in January 2022 and also focuses on the energy sector.

Raue's strong industry focus also reflects on its trade mark advice and results in instructions by companies from the energy, health and start-up sectors; thanks to strong relationships with international firms, the practice also seamlessly handles cross-border matters. Markus Plesser heads the team with Robert Heine representing another key contact; both handle strategic advice and representation in- and out-of-court trade mark disputes.

Germany > Employment Tier 7

In addition to traditional individual and collective employment advice, Raue offers assistance with mergers, company pension schemes and employment law compliance as well as with industrial constitution law and intersectional social security issues. The group also takes on contentious matters; here, co-practice head Judith Heyn is increasingly instructed by stakeholders from the healthcare sector. Insolvency-related restructuring represents another core competence of the team  and of co-practice head Sascha Herms in particular.
