We are pleased to announce that Anderson Mori & Tomotsune (“AMT”) has opened an office in Hanoi City of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (“Vietnam”).

Since the late 2000s, we have seconded our attorneys to local law firms in Vietnam and to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to provide support to Japanese companies considering making investments in Vietnam, as well as those who have established their business presence in Vietnam. In May 2015, we opened an office in Ho Chi Minh City in the south of Vietnam. Since then, over the past 8 years, we have continued to provide legal support to Japanese companies with operations in Vietnam while gradually expanding our own practice.

Hanoi, located in the north of Vietnam, is the capital of Vietnam and home to major government agencies, the State Bank of Vietnam, and the headquarters of many companies’ local subsidiaries. In the past, we provided legal services to clients located all over Vietnam from our Ho Chi Minh City Office. However, with the further expansion and diversification of Japanese companies’ business in Vietnam, which led to an increase in the need to hold talks with government agencies and the State Bank, we came to the conclusion that it was necessary for us to establish an office in Hanoi as well. We believe that the establishment of our Hanoi Office will enable us to provide more personalized and comprehensive legal services to Japanese companies that have their headquarters in Hanoi.

The Hanoi Office has two partners, Yasufumi Miki, who has been stationed in Vietnam since 2012 and has been the Ho Chi Minh City Office representative since 2015, and Kazuhiro Fukuda, who has worked in the Ho Chi Minh City Office since 2018. The Hanoi Office will provide optimal legal services to clients in accordance with local conditions in cooperation with the Ho Chi Minh City Office and AMT’s other domestic and international offices.
