The Singapore Maritime Week took place from 4 to 8 April 2022 and was one of the first large scale in person gatherings in Singapore for over 2 years.

One of the central themes of the event was “The Changing Nature of Maritime Risks”. The mandate to digitalise, to transition to new fuels, build new vessels, and the imminent need to decarbonise all bodes for drastic change in the business, but it also means a myriad of uncertainties and risks for its stakeholders.

JTJB was an active participant in the event. Our Deputy Managing Partner, John Sze moderated a panel consisting of some of the industry’s leading figures on this very theme and sat down with Channel News Asia to share his thoughts on how maritime players need to adapt.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has also piled on another layer of challenges and strain on the sector, with significant impact on supply chains and cost of insurance, just to name a few.

We’ve covered all this ground in this issue but there’s more – read our interview with Adnavem’s Terry Seetoh to find out about how existing technology can ease your decarbonisation journey.

We hope you enjoy this edition.
