Xiang Gao graduated from Peking University Law School with a LLB degree in 2002, and then obtained a L.L.M. degree from London School of Economics and Political Science in 2004.

Jingtian & Gongcheng has strong capital markets capabilities and experience with overseas listings. The client roster includes the largest private enterprise in China, Wanda Cinema, and global underwriters such as JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and CITIC CLSA Capital Markets. In a notable transaction, Xiang Gao and Tian Mingzi handled one of the largest debt issuances in 2018 for China National Chemical Corporation; 18 international banks jointly acted as underwriters and debt was issued in US dollar and euro, with listings on both the Singapore and Euronext Dublin stock exchange. The team also acted for the underwriters in's high-value debt issuance.

Among its recent highights, it assisted Chengtun Mining Group with acquiring Consolidated Nickel Mines through one of its subsidiaries, Hongsheng International Resources, and acted for Goodbaby International on its $360m acquisition of Oasis Dragon from Goodbaby China. Recommended practitioners include Wei Bai who has broad experience handling FDI and restructuring transactions, Guanchun Dai who is recommended for high-value outbound mandates, and Xiang Gao who specialises in security compliance and corporate restructuring matters.

The team advised Xiaomi on its $4.7bn listing at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange; acted for Baidu on its $1.5bn debt issuance; and advised JD Finance's restructuring terminating its VIE arrangement with JD Group. Managing partner Xiang Gao is the key contact within the team which also includes Jinjin Chen who is particularly experienced in advising emerging companies on their IPOs.
