Career

As a senior associate with the firm’s tax team, her primary role is managing indirect tax projects relating to value added tax, excise tax, natural resources tax and customs issues. Having worked in the tax field since 2002, Dace Everte has gained significant experience not just with Sorainen, but also with the Latvian tax authorities and a tax department of a multi-national audit company.

Wide-scope VAT work. Her work includes coordinating and implementing VAT planning and structuring projects, particularly those related to real estate. Dace also conduct VAT reviews for target companies that our clients intend to sell or buy. She is also involved in our clients’ VAT disputes with the Latvian tax authorities.

Standing for a better tax environment. Dace Everte successfully lobbied for the introduction of a local VAT reverse charge for household electrical goods and electronic goods. She also achieved correct implementation of the electricity tax directive in Latvia along with the right to apply the exemptions provided.

Tax knowledge in complicated transactions. Dace regularly advise clients on correct taxation of complex transactions and have a good knowledge of CJEU (the Court of Justice of the European Union) case law in VAT and excise matters, which is always a strong argument when dealing with the tax authorities.

Assistance with tax authorities. She provide regular assistance for clients in their cooperation with the State Revenue Service. Having been involved in numerous tax audits, her track record shows positive results for a large number of clients.
