The ‚Äėimpressive‚Äô team at Cobalt¬†advises on a broad range of shipping and transportation matters, including in the aviation sector. Recent work includes¬†ńĘirts LejiŇÜŇ°¬†¬†representing Riga International Airport in a challenge to the enforcement of an international arbitral award issued in favour of Ryanair on the grounds that it received illegal state aid.¬†Other highlights included representing Mega Transport in a dispute with Estonian company Ne-Va Trans over the recovery of damages for destroyed cargo.¬†Another key contact is¬†Gatis Flinters,¬†who also leads the commercial and M&A practice and regularly handles shipping transactions.

Agris RepŇ°s¬†leads Sorainen's¬†transport and maritime group, advising clients on a wide range of aviation and infrastructure matters. Recent highlights include¬†RepŇ°s providing advice to Folla Maritime Service on the execution of a shipbuilding contract governed by Latvian law. Rail Baltica continues to be a client and is expected to generate workflow to the group due to its ongoing development projects in the Baltic region. Senior associate Valts Nerets¬†is recommended.

Raimonds SlaidiŇÜŇ°¬†heads the team of ‚Äėindustry leaders‚Äô¬†at Ellex, which takes a multi-disciplinary approach to shipping and transportation matters, including compliance and procurement. Ilga Gudrenika-Krebs¬†¬†is continuing¬†to advise an airline as long-term client regarding its development and expansion. Other clients also include Nordic Aviation Capital and Bombardier Inc.

Eversheds Sutherland BitńĀns'¬†practice group is jointly led by MńĀris Vainovskis¬†and MńĀris Logins, and takes a multi-disciplinary approach to advising on aviation, shipping and other transportation matters. The leading matter for the firm has been the Rail Baltica railway infrastructure project, which the team continues to advise on issues such as spatial planning and environmental impact assessment. The team also continues to act for a leading European airline. Ilze KramiŇÜa¬†is a noted practitioner.

Kronbergs ńĆukste Levin¬†has expertise in advising government and corporate clients on shipping and rail matters. The team led by Vineta ńĆukste-Jurjeva¬†continues to advise Latvian Railways¬†on financing its future infrastructure development and on railway market liberalisation. Longstanding clients include state-owned electric utility company Latvenergo and international transportation and logistics company Gefco.

At Primus Derling, Sintija Radionova¬†and¬†Kristńęne Gaigule-҆ńĀvńďja¬†co-lead the shipping practice group, which acts for clients such as¬†Kauno Tiltai. Ivars Grunte and Andra Rubene lead the transport team at TGS Baltic, which counts the European Investment Bank (ECB) among its longstanding clients.
