The UK’s Golden Ticket Visa

Often referred to as the UK’s Golden Ticket Visa, the Tier 1 Investor Visa has seen a rise in applications in the 1st half of 2019 where 255 people alone have managed to obtain the visa which is the highest amount since 2014.

Immigration solicitors London state that since its creation in 2008, 11,000 people have entered the UK on a Tier 1 Investor Visa and most of these people have been from Russia and China. However reasons for the most recent increase in figures can be directly related to Brexit and the drop in value of the GBP which has made life cheaper in the UK which has had an impact on things such as school fees which have in essence attracted more people who are financially able to apply under this visa path.

The minimum investment needed to apply for a Tier 1 Investor Visa is £2 million. If an application is successful, the applicant can remain in the UK for 3 years and can extend this if all relevant criteria are met. After remaining in the UK for 5 years, the applicant can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). The process can also be fast tracked depending on how much money the applicant would like to invest. For example, if an investment of £10 million would allow someone to gain ILR after only 2 years and an investment of £5 million will allow this to be gained after 3 years.
