It seems yesterday that a group of partners, associates and paralegals – who previously worked together at another prestigious Hong Kong law firm – engaged in a leap of faith and followed Adam Hugill and Alfred Ip into a new chapter of their careers. Other enthusiastic and entrepreneurial individuals quickly joined the team and embarked on a venture of a then-unknown and brand-new law firm. Many more individuals joined, more than doubling the initial headcount and adding further knowledge and expertise to the initial group.
Although the partners were individually known in their fields, it is undeniable that, as a firm, Hugill & Ip has carved a unique and compelling position within the Hong Kong legal market.
As we reflect on this significant milestone, it is important to acknowledge the incredible dedication and commitment of every member of the team. The unwavering passion for legal service and tireless efforts have undoubtedly made a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals whether personally or those in business. Through dedication, expertise and professionalism, the firm has built a strong foundation of trust and reliability, which has been instrumental in Hugill & Ip’s success.

Alfred Ip ruminated: “It feels like yesterday that we opened our doors, and I am especially proud of the progress that we made. It wasn’t always easy, in particular during the political turmoil of 2019 which was immediately followed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but we made it through it not only maintaining stability but also managing to grow even during difficult times. I am especially proud of the progress that our Family Law and Private Client team has made in the recent years – positively impacting the lives of many individual clients, who often find themselves in one of the most difficult chapter of their lives. We are grateful for the work done, but we are especially excited for the road ahead with a further expansion of these two practice areas and a continued commitment to our clients.”.
Over the past five years, Hugill & Ip has not only provided exceptional legal services but has also become a committed part of the community.
