Abegg & Co AG, a Zurich-based single family office, has been granted a license by FINMA to act as manager of collective assets.

Homburger represented Abegg & Co AG before the FINMA. The license allows Abegg & Co AG to take over the responsibility for portfolio and risk management of an AIF from an AIFM whose law, in accordance with the AIFMD, only allows such delegation to licensed or registered financial institutions. Abegg & Co AG has voluntarily applied for this license under the Financial Institutions Act, even though Abegg & Co AG as such would be exempt from such licensing requirement.

The Homburger team was led by Jürg Frick (Financial Market Regulation) and included Manuel Baschung (Financial Market Regulation), Claudine Schär and Maria Braun (both Corporate / M&A), as well as Stefan Oesterhelt and Miriam Kämpf (both Tax).
