Cat is a Principal Associate in our Human Resources Practice Group where she specialises in both private sector and public sector pensions law. Her recent public sector pensions law experience includes acting for private sector contractors, councils and other bodies in relation to outsourcing projects, including advising on employees' public sector pensions rights, drafting and negotiating outsourcing contracts and advising on admission and participation in public sector schemes. Cat also advises councils, police and fire and rescue authorities on all aspects of governance of their respective schemes. Cat also advises all types of education establishments (including academies, maintained schools, colleges and universities) on their pension provisions. In terms of recent private sector pensions experience, Cat has advised pension scheme trustees on all aspects of pensions law including administering benefits and scheme governance. Cat is also a member of the team advising trustees and the Pension Protection Fund on the entry to the Pension Protection Fund assessment period and on the equalisation of benefits. Cat advises both trustees and employers on scheme change proposals and the implementation of new pension arrangements on share and asset sales and purchases. She has advised on bringing complaints to the Pensions Ombudsman and the Financial Ombudsman in relation to complex pensions matters. Cat is a regular speaker at pensions events and regularly provides training to clients. Cat is also an active committee member of the North East Association of Pension Lawyers (NEAPL) and a member of the national Association of Pension Lawyers (APL).
