Career

Carolina initially focused her practice in the field of Real Estate and registration Law as legal advisor and assistant for over five years in the Real Estate Registry.

Simultaneously, she was involved in the academic field, where she was an assistant and then professor at Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado for Roman Law, Civil Law and Introduction to Law.

Afterwards, and before joining Arias, in 2006, Carolina worked as a legal analyst in the field of research at the Department of Legal Studies of the Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Development (FUSADES- per its acronym in Spanish), which is a Salvadoran think tank.

Since her incorporation to the law firm as an associate in 2007, Carolina has been active in the following areas:

New investment projects in the textile and manufacturing sector, services and others, by representing multinational companies in the most relevant investment transactions of said sectors in the country, in matters related to free zone regime, environmental law, energy, corporate, registry, regulatory compliance and other legal subjects related to the operation of said companies.

In the energy area, Carolina has advised various industries on issues related to contracts for the sale and supply of energy, maintenance of electrical installations, services with the energy market, among others. She has also advised from a regulatory perspective on the establishment and operation of electrical installations related with the generation and distribution of energy.

In the corporate area, Carolina advises different industries and companies, including aspects of regulatory, environmental and other legal matters related with the operation of such companies. She has also participated in the development and establishment of facilities, due diligence for acquisition of companies and their regulatory compliance, assisting in the development of contractual models for the execution of these projects and in obtaining governmental approvals and licenses.

Carolina has advised various clients in different aircraft financing transactions from a local regulatory point of view, which has involved leases, subleases, and guarantees, involving local air operators. In that area, Carolina provides opinions and other advice related to issues arising from such transactions such as the registration of documents in the competent registry.

In the environmental area Carolina assists businesses and industries for the setting of facilities or activities as well as for the operation, analysis of environmental laws or regulations, and has also assisted in specific procedures before environmental authorities.
