Phil has extensive experience in the public and private sectors and advises clients on commercial contracts, data protection issues and IT/technology contracts.

He is a well respected lawyer who has worked with numerous high profile clients in the automotive, energy and manufacturing sectors.

Phil has extensive experience in commercial contracts and has advised on a number of outsourcing, facilities management and services arrangements.

He has dealt with various complex manufacturing agreements including those dealing with cross-jurisdictional issues.

Phil has advised on and negotiated distribution, agency and other commercial arrangements.

Having given advice on IT and technology contract for over 15 years, Phil has a wealth of experience in all aspects of IT and technology law including advising on IT outsourcing arrangements (including offshoring), cloud software solutions, escrow agreements and software licensing, support and maintenance issues.

He understands the need to draft agreements to suit client needs and to meet client requirements be it a complex multi-party revenue sharing arrangement or a short heads of terms document.

His experience in drafting consumer contracts has resulted in him getting a plain English crystal clear mark award for a client’s contracts. He has advised on various consumer-related issues including advice on prize draws.

Phil is an acknowledged expert on information law and has extensive experience on data protection and freedom of information.

He has advised clients on contentious data subject access requests, data compliance programmes, dealing with data security incidents, big data issues and looking at issues relating to the export of personal data outside the EEA.

Phil is the co-editor of the Information Sharing handbook (2011) published by the Law Society.
