The practice’s principal figures are IT and data protection expert Alessandra Pietroletti in Rome, and Milan-based Luigi Neirotti, whose focus encompasses IT law and data security and protection.

Mattia Riccardo Petrillo leads the practice’s energy and efficiency team, advising clients in the oil and gas, electric and alternative energy sectors, while head of the energy finance team Oriana Granato notably focuses on the implementation of energy transition and circular economy projects, PPPs, project finance-based loan agreements and M&A transactions. Maria Cristina Breida leads the environment, climate change and sustainability team, which assists clients in innovative energy-from-waste, biomass and biofuels projects.

The team is also noted for handling matters related to blockchain systems to track the exchange of confidential information, including trade secrets and know-how. Daniele Caneva focuses on both intellectual property matters and portfolio management and litigation related to the protection and defence of intellectual assets, while Giovanni Francesco Casucci’s broad practice spans patent and trademark litigation before the Italian courts and technology transfers. Elena Carpani is noted for her expertise in unfair competition claims relating to IP assets and advertising, as well as for her knowledge of the fashion, luxury, lifestyle and design sectors.

EY TAX & LAW ITALY assists major public and private corporations, corporate groups and financial institutions that are in crisis. The firm’s restructuring and insolvency practice is broad, advising on administration, bankruptcy proceedings, corporate restructurings, debt rescheduling, insolvency proceedings and refinancings. The department is led by Francesco Marotta, who supports clients through national and international restructuring processes. Angelo Ciro del Duca is noted within the department for his expertise in shareholder agreements.
