Move reflects growing regulatory, reputational, and criminal exposure faced by companies and executives in highly regulated sectors
The rise in corporate investigations, the expansion of regulatory scrutiny, and the increasing intersection between governance, data protection, and criminal liability have significantly reshaped the profile of legal challenges faced by Brazilian companies. In sectors subject to intense oversight and institutional pressure, issues once addressed separately now require integrated, fast, and highly sophisticated legal responses.
Within this context, Martinelli Advogados announces the arrival of Mariana Kapor Drumond as a partner in the areas of White-Collar Criminal Law, Corporate Criminal Law, Criminal Compliance, and Privacy and Personal Data Protection.
With more than 15 years of experience, Mariana advises domestic and international companies, executives, and individuals in investigations and disputes involving corporate fraud, environmental crimes, tax crimes, financial offenses, capital markets, public administration matters, cybercrime, and cases arising from workplace accidents. Her practice combines advisory and contentious work in highly sensitive legal and reputational matters.
Throughout her career, she has built a strong track record in corporate crisis management and in structuring preventive strategies aimed at mitigating criminal risks. She is also actively involved in the implementation and review of compliance, governance, and personal data protection programs, particularly in scenarios where regulatory failures may lead to corporate and management liability.
Another significant aspect of her practice involves acting in Parliamentary Commissions of Inquiry (CPIs) before the Brazilian National Congress, as well as in sanctioning administrative proceedings conducted by regulatory and oversight authorities, including CGU, CGE, ANATEL, ANM, and CVM, with a focus on investigations related to Brazil’s Anti-Corruption Law.
The addition of the new partner comes amid the expansion of discussions surrounding enforcement, corporate integrity, and the individual accountability of executives. This environment has increased demand for legal structures capable of acting simultaneously across criminal, regulatory, reputational, and institutional protection fronts.
“Today, many corporate crises are no longer exclusively legal matters. They involve reputation, public exposure, regulatory pressure, and direct impacts on business continuity. This requires strategic action and a highly coordinated response capability,” says Mariana.
The arrival of the attorney also reflects a broader trend observed in the corporate legal market: the growing convergence between compliance practices, internal investigations, data protection, and White-Collar Criminal Law, particularly in sectors subject to intense regulatory scrutiny and high levels of public exposure.
With this move, Martinelli Advogados further strengthens its capabilities in matters related to crisis management, corporate investigations, and institutional protection, in line with the increasing regulatory complexity faced by companies in recent years.
