The case concerned a request from the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine to extradite the key shareholder of the Finance and Credit bank.

The French court concluded that Ukraine is unable to guarantee a fair trial. As a result, all proceedings against the businessman have been terminated.

For over a year, the legal team at VB Partners has documented violations of our client’s rights by Ukrainian law enforcement. These include multiple procedural breaches, excluding defence attorneys from the case, and repeated failures by the investigator and prosecutor to appear in court.

Moreover, law enforcement authorities have been evading compliance with a court order for nearly six months – an order requiring them to provide case materials to the defence for review. This demonstrates that the case is not aimed at a fair investigation but is a political or other pressure tool.
