Ms. Bunye is a Senior Partner of Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia where she heads the Energy Department, as well as the Mining and Natural Resources Department. She is also a Partner in the Intellectual Property Department.

Patricia A. O. Bunye

Mr. De Guzman is currently the Managing Partner of ACCRALAW. He specializes in labor and employment law and headed the Labor and Employment Department of ACCRALAW from 2008 until his election as Managing Partner in 2014. He advises his clients on the labor aspect of mergers and acquisitions, the preparation and audit of outsourcing agreements, employee pension plans and rules, and handles the conciliation, mediation and litigation of labor and employment disputes.

Mr. De Guzman handled the labor aspect of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Privatization which brought about the successful transition of thousands of employees from government service to private employment. He successfully litigated a number of suits involving employers where the Supreme Court upheld the exercise of management prerogatives, including the enforcement of Company rules, the administration of compensation schemes, the resolution of wage distortions, and the resort to outsourcing arrangements.

Benjamin Carale, head of Latham’s Philippines practice, focuses on corporate finance and securities transactions, including high yield debt offerings, initial public offerings, and liability management transactions. Dual qualified in New York and in the Philippines, and a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong, Mr. Carale’s experience working in New York, the Philippines, and Hong Kong gives him a unique perspective on international capital markets work. Rose Marie M. King-Dominguez is a partner in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan. She is a member of the firm’s Special Projects and Banking, Finance and Securities groups. Mr. Filio has extensive experience handling employment termination disputes and money claims, labor inspections and audits, outsourcing concerns, the labor aspect of mergers and acquisitions, right-sizing and down-sizing programs, collective bargaining negotiations, union organization issues, and strikes. Mr. Filio also handles labor-related criminal litigation work, which includes complaints for unfair labor practice acts, violations of the Revised Penal Code, the Social Security System law, and other special laws.

Erwin V. Filio

Mr. Coloma’s specialization is in the field of corporate and commercial law, particularly in mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, banking, and real estate. He has acted as corporate counsel for prominent Philippine and foreign companies, giving legal advice on a broad range of commercial activities, such as corporate reorganizations, transaction structuring, contract negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures. He has represented banks and other companies in their petitions, transactions, applications and dealings with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Securities and Exchange Commission and Bureau of Internal Revenue. Mr. Coloma has also headed numerous due diligence audits, among which are the acquisition of banks, educational institutions, real estate companies and mining firms.

Among his recent notable projects are the joint ventures by Manila Water with local water districts for a bulk water project and a non-revenue reduction project under the NEDA JV Guidelines and the acquisition by the Ayala Group’s education arm of a university.

Jerry S. Coloma III

Mr. Molo combines valuable insight gained as a law clerk in the Supreme Court with years of “bet-the-company” litigation. He is the youngest lawyer to act as Lead Counsel on oral argument before the Philippine Supreme Court En Banc on a case of national importance (Belgica v. Executive Secretary) and win decisively.

As a technical consultant for legislators, economic zones, and other government interests, Mr. Molo is well-versed in public policy advocacy & reform. His experience in the academe and as a former consultant for a media conglomerate and a leading utilities firm affords key insight in the field of utilities regulation. He is especially adept in navigating the Philippine’s legislative and administrative processes.

Jamie Rayat has worked for The Legal 500 for almost five years, and has been involved in extensive research of the in-house legal market throughout this time, including contributing to The Client Intelligence Report and GC Magazine, as well as numerous bespoke research projects related to the provision of in-house legal services.
