Career

Her professional practice focuses on competition law, with special emphasis on free competition, merger control and elimination of bureaucratic barriers, while providing counsel on regulatory and administrative law matters. She joined the firm as an associate in 2018. Previously, she worked at the Bullard Falla Ezcurra law firm (2011 to 2018) and at the Specialized Competition Defense Chamber of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) (2008 to 2011). Fiorella has also been a member of the Regulatory Policy Clinic at New York University (NYU) (2014). She holds an LL.B. from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and an LL.M. from New York University, where she received the Dean’s Award. She has taught the Economic Administrative Law course at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas and at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, and is currently a part-time lecturer at the Universidad del Pacífico. She has also published articles and has been a speaker at several academic forums on administrative law, regulatory impact, elimination of bureaucratic barriers and free competition.

Miranda & Amado‘s ‘agile‘ and ‘efficient‘ competition team is jointly headed by Enrique Felices and Fiorella Zumaeta, who act for key clients including Linde, Obrascón Huarte Lain and Grupo Repsol, among others. The practice regularly deals with high-profile antitrust and unfair competition cases, as well as litigation and client representation before INDECOPI. Recent work for the team includes assisting Centurylink Perú in the first pre-merger notification proceeding under the merger control law, as well as advising Clorox on the preparation of complaints involving consumer protection and unfair competition. The practice is also experienced in assisting clients with antitrust matters, such as dealing with cartel proceedings, filing merger control transactions, and advising on complex compliance programmes.

Peru > Compliance

Miranda & Amado‘s compliance team is capable of handling the full spectrum of compliance matters, with recent work including advising a client in a bid-rigging investigation, reviewing compliance programmes, and representing clients in investigations before INDECOPI. The team, led by Bruno Amiel, is made up of six partners and nine lawyers; Amiel is recommended for corporate compliance issues, while José Luis Velarde and Rafael Díaz are key contacts for criminal compliance. Enrique Felices and Fiorella Zumaeta are names to note for antitrust and competition issues, while Willy Pedreschi and associate Fabiana Vittoria are active in compliance issues arising from acquisitions. Counsel Katherine Torres develops compliance programmes and was promoted to counsel in January 2022.
