Career

With a faultless grasp of the minutiae of immigration law and a talent for advising with clarity, Ross has made a big difference to the firm as Senior Client Manager, supervising, training and working across the firm’s wide range of clients and matters.

Ross has a fantastic record across all manner of corporate immigration matters and is a regular participant of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) Economic Migration Working Group.

He has been actively involved in reviewing and analysing the draft Immigration Rules on behalf of ILPA as part of a Home Office consultation on upcoming changes to the Rules and Guidance.

Ross advises organisations from start-ups and SME’s to big household brands on applications for licences to sponsor Skilled Workers, Scale-up sponsor licences, and the new Global Business Mobility immigration routes. This includes advising on UKVI compliance requirements and ongoing responsibilities, providing further training to HR teams where needed.

Ross writes articles on UK immigration law and is a contributing author for Lexis PSL, where he updated practice notes on routes for creatives, as well as the grounds for refusal and cancellation of permission, as well as writing for other HR and legal publications.

Ross also wrote the initial Lexis analysis of one of last year’s most important developments for qualifying UK firms – the Scale-up visa and advised one of the UK’s first firms to use this useful new immigration route for sourcing international talent to help firms scale up.

He writes on immigration law practice for other specialist titles too. Ross recently provided analysis for Free Movement on the new  Expansion Worker immigration route, as well as advising a client that became one of the first companies to use this new route for businesses expanding into the UK.

As well as advising on every major area of corporate immigration, Ross has plenty of experience of guiding clients through tricky areas of personal immigration, such as nationality eligibility through ancestry/British colonial connections.
